Glastonbury Excitement!
So it's that time of year again, time to dig out my tent and rucksack and fill it with toilet roll, lots of sanitizer and of course cider! Let's hope for some fun times and absolutely no rain!! Here are some of my photo's from last year...

Olympic Torch for London 2012
Alot of the London olympics designs have been a massive disappointment so far, starting with the logo unvailed by Wolff Olins a few years back...
Then there was the rather unsightly Anish Kapoor sculpture for the olympic park that looked more like a rollercoaster than a new landmark to represent London...
And again, then there was the mascots 'Manlock and Mandiville' which looked like creates from the film Monsters Inc...
But finally, a designers BarberOsgerby might have a winner. The design for the London 2012 torch is simple, sleek and understated. The only bad point is that awful logo is still on it!

Kolmanskop Ghost Town
From the last series of 'Wonders of the Universe', Brain Cox travelled to an old mining town in Namibia, Africa. He used the town to explain the laws of entropy and its effect on time. I found the ghost town interesting enough itself. The sand dunes have slowly taken over this old town, with some pretty unusal photos capturing old crumbling homes filled with sand and slowly being eaten up by the dessert. The photo's almost look like a surreal art installation matta-clark might do?

Turner Contemporary by Chipperfield
Growing up i regularly visited the beach town Margate and over the years i have seen the town progressively deteriorate. So i was very excited to hear a new contemporary art gallery considered to be 'one of the largest and most important spaces for art outside London' was going to be built...and then even more excited to hear it was Chipperfield who was going to be designing it!
When Dezeen posted the design for it last year (above) i was a little disappointed...it felt a little to imposing and unconsidered. The local paper/community heavily opposed and criticized the design. Subsequently Chipperfield had to change the designs considerably, evolving the gallaery into a more site considerate design. And here it is....
The design still seems slightly uncomfortable in the characteristic town of Margate, but on the other hand seems to conclude the end of the shoreline successfully...this is again on my list of places to visit this summer!

St Pancras Renaissance Hotel
After years of devoted restoration, the St Pancras Renaissance London Hotel has finally opened today. The photo's show how delicately the building has been restored to it's former extravagant interiors. This is on my list of places to visit this summer!

Forest xylophones
This large scale musical instrument was designed and build by Drill Inc for a mobile phone advert....i think the advert is way more impressive and beautiful than the actual phone its promoting...
